Meet Dr. Sujata Basawaraj, the Country Chair Person of the USA for ESCD

  • Introduce yourself.

I’m Dr. Sujata Basawaraj, the Country Chair Person of the United States for ESCD, President of the American Society of Cosmetic Dentistry, Smile Designer, Entrepreneur, and a Cosmetic Dentist.

  • Why did you become a dentist?

Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to help people look good and feel confident. Dentistry was the method for which I achieved this personal goal of mine. I enjoy making people confident about their smiles.

  • Did you have a mentor?

I did have a mentor; Dr. Richard Martin. He has taught me to passionate about my work as a dentist and I resonate with his words, “stay humble and give it your all”.

  • How would you describe yourself as a person and a mother?

I would describe myself as a down to earth and very caring. As a mother I hope that I am doing good, sometimes I feel that it’s never enough, but I wouldn’t trade my relationship with my children for anything.

  • How do you describe yourself as a dentist?

As a dentist I think I am very hardworking and fair.  I like to treat my patients just how I would like to be treated.

  • What is your favorite place on earth?

My favorite place on earth has to be my home. I love spending time with my family.

  • What did you think you would become if you were not a dentist?

Because I love helping feel confident about their appearance, I think I would have become a plastic surgeon.

  • What is your favorite music to listen to and place to travel to?

I love listening to classical music and I don’t really have a favorite travel destination, I just love visiting and seeing new places.

  • How did you become an ESCD member?

I was invited by Dr. Luca Dalloca, another one of my mentors.

  • What would you say about ESCD to your colleagues?

I would say that the reason I became a member was because I believe in the organization and their mission to educate dentists internationally.
